Hello y'all. I'm Jacob Groneman.

My drumming journey began as a kid in 2006 after hearing a neighbor play drums to Rush. Both hesitant toward the stigma surrounding rock 'n roll & whether I would stay interested long-term, my parents held off on lessons for a year before discovering a teacher through a local drum shop. Although I was initially too small to reach the drum pedals, I gradually became a solid drummer, developing notable skills in advanced performance & written transcription after the course of 10 fun years.

In 2019, I commenced my teaching career. It has been a quite enjoyable experience & many of my students have become excellent drummers. Currently, I am pursuing Software Development & Film at the University of Utah to create cinematic entertainment for XR. You can find me cooking, programming & producing music in my spare time.

My experience performing with countless bands in various shows & competitions across Utah will be beneficial for your drumming journey. 🥁

When learning songs, I write the entire song for you note by note. Writing out 1 beat on lined notebook paper & leaving you to guess the rest is simply called being lazy.

Concepts are broken down to the absolute basics & built upon a solid foundation to eventually enable complex playing without confusion.

Ostinatos, polymeters & polyrhythms are encouraged here.
